Discutii generale despre SAAB

The bankruptcy administrators have called the media and announced that they are having a press-conference at 1300 CET today to announce who the winner of the Saab sale is.

According to different media and our sources this is what we are supposed to hear:

NEVS buying Saab
Developing a 9-1 electric car with a Japanese back-bone and subframe
Developing a 9-3 hybrid system
Developing the Next Generation 9-3 Phoenix platform in to a Hybrid / EV with electric rear axel
Have an option to buy Saab Parts for 200 million Euro in 3 years allowing the government to rebuild Saab Parts and the Network
Developing an own battery development and production center in Trollhättan
Developing a bio-fuel electric plant creating electricity from the currently huge bio-mass industry in Sweden.

With this combination NEVS should be able to do something that no other car-manufacturer can do, which is to sell an electric / hybrid car with its own batteries and and also include fixed price for electricity (at least in an open market europe). Within a few years the European market will be completely opened meaning that a house in the United Kingdom will be able to buy electricity from a company in Sweden for example. Other car customers will have to buy the car from one company, lease the batteries from a second and then buy the electricity from a third. A future Saab customer should be able to do it all from one single source.

Lets see what is said and if the above issues mentioned in the press and various sources for the past months have been correct or not! =)

It’s not just about money and technology, its about a vision and sustainability.

NEVS is the buyer of SAAB, who wants to combine Saab in three basis:
1. Swedish know-how, design, technology and production facility which is a world-leading class
2. Add cutting-edge technology from Japan in form of know-how, design and technology
3. The great connections with China

The first region Saab will focus on, is China. China is right now focusing more money on electric cars than any other place in the world. Obama has promised one million electric cars by 2015.

Karl Johan Jiang, main owner of NEVS moved to Sweden 23 years ago and the first thing struck him was the huge contrasts. Back then China was all about industry but in Sweden the focus was on economic growth friendly to the environment. Since then he decided to focus on eco-friendly growth.

He started working with bio-mass technology. By 2006 the first plant was started in China, today he runs 28 with 9 more currently being built.

First product for Saab will be a developed 9-3 Electric Car. The 2n’d will be a new generation 9-3 built upon the phoenix platform combined with cutting-edge japanese technology.

State-gird and China wants a car that can be charged with green electricity. The main source for the bio-mass production in China is Straw grown by farmers. Today Karl Johans company has contributed with more than billion USD to the farmers who are now growing straw used as bio-mass-energy.

Karl Johan Jiang wants to combine cutting edge car technology with electric engines powered by green electricity in a future that is sustainable.

Mattias Bergman

Long-term financing is in place and no approvals needed from either Japan nor China is required to implement the finance-plan. A number of Japanese companies are behind this deal.

NEVS has bought the IP rights to the 9-3 but not the 9-4x nor 9-5.

First product will be launched in 2013-2014.

Now they will start recruiting and making good connections with current and new suppliers who are important.

The future cars will be built in Trollhättan, in a facility which is in top-class. The aim is to develop an attractive car that market will have a demand for.

Recruitment for management has already started. Chinese and Japanese teams are en-route to Trollhättan. Local consult companies will be a close part of the process.

A big priority is of course to establish good business-contacts. China is the key to future sustainable cars and its focus on shifting away from fossil fuels is key factor to their plans to buy Saab.

NEVS e castigatorul.

http://www.topgear.ro/masini/financiare ... -5169.html

National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS) has finalized its acquisition of the main assets of Saab Automobile AB, Saab Automobile Powertrain AB and Saab Automobile Tools AB, effective August 31, 2012. The prerequisites for implementing the NEVS business plan are now in place. The acquisition includes IP rights for the Saab 9-3, IP rights for the Phoenix platform, tools, the manufacturing plant, and test and laboratory facilities. The acquisition also comprises all outstanding shares in the property company which owned the Saab facilities in Trollhättan, Sweden.

NEVS has signed a licensing agreement with Saab AB regarding the rights to use the Saab brand name for its future vehicles. The vehicle manufacturing company is named National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB, “NEVS”. The vehicles and related products and services will be named SAAB. The present logotype will not be used.

Recruitment to the management team and key positions is in progress. As of today, about 75 people have received employment offers.

NEVS is wholly owned by National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd., whose founder and principal owner is Kai Johan Jiang.

NEVS is an international consortium formed by Swedish and Chinese stakeholders. Based on existing resources and with the addition of Japanese leading edge technology, the company is establishing a new venture in Trollhättan, solely dedicated to development and manufacturing of electric vehicles (EVs). NEVS aims to become a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles.

Kai Johan Jiang, founder and main owner of National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd, the majority shareholder of NEVS:
“China is investing heavily in developing the EV market, which is a key driver for the ongoing technology shift to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The Chinese can increasingly afford cars; however, the global oil supply would not suffice if they all buy petroleum-fueled vehicles. Chinese customers demand a premium electric vehicle, which we will be able to offer by acquiring Saab Automobile in Trollhättan. Engineering and development of our first electric vehicle has been underway for an extended period in China and Japan, and now, with the manufacturing facilities in our possession, we are able to continue development work on site at Trollhättan.”

Karl-Erling Trogen, Chairman, National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB:
“I am delighted that we can build on Saab Automobile’s skills in vehicle design and production to start a new future-oriented venture in Trollhättan, where world class manufacturing facilities are available. We will match Swedish automobile design and manufacturing experience with Japanese EV technology and a strong presence in China. Electric vehicles powered by clean electricity are the future, and the electric car of the future will be produced in Trollhättan.”

“The efforts to implement our business plan can now be multiplied, focused on the development of a world-class electric vehicle in Trollhättan. In approximately 18 months, we plan to introduce our first electric vehicle based on Saab 9-3 technologies and a new technology electric powertrain.”

PRESS-RELEASE: Owner of NEVS start battery factory in China

One of the world’s most up-to-date battery manufacturing plants is now operational in Beijing. It has been established by the owner of National Electric Vehicle Sweden (the manufacturer of the future Saab cars), National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd., which has started manufacturing of batteries for electric-drive buses and cars through its wholly owned subsidiary State Power Group in China.

The new battery manufacturer is named Beijing National Battery Technology and is owned by State Power Group (75 percent) together with company management (25 percent). The batteries are based on Japanese engineering using LFP (lithium iron phosphate, LiFePO4) technology. They deliver high energy density: 146 Wh/kg, exceeding the current offering in the electric vehicle market.

The plant currently employs 75 people, a figure which will grow as production is increased. Additionally, an engineering staff of 30 will work in research and development of battery technology. Batteries are currently delivered for use in urban electric buses in China. The production plant is also intended to be the main battery supplier to the Saab electric vehicles, with the initial model planned for launch in early 2014.

“This is important for Nevs. In only seven months from groundbreaking to start of production, we have built a state-of-the-art battery plant,” said Kai Johan Jiang, owner of National Modern Energy Holdings, the parent company of Saab car manufacturer Nevs. “The production capacity is easily scalable, and I foresee us adding more plants to meet the needs of Nevs and the market’s demand for electric vehicle batteries. The battery plant is a result of the Chinese-Japanese collaboration, which also forms the engineering pillar for the future Saab electric vehicles. Already today, our batteries have very competitive specifications, and still some 18 months remain before launch of the first Saab EV model.”
