Vladimir Antonov
This is an Eastern Slavic name; the patronymic is Aleksandrovich and the family name is Antonov.

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Antonov (Russian: Владимир Александрович Антонов; born 1975) is a Russian banker, entrepreneur and investor. Since 2004 he has been chairman of the Supervisory Board of the International Financial Group "Konvers Group". He is also chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC "Finasta Holding", a member of the Supervisory Board of JSC bank "Finasta", the main shareholder and chairman of the Lithuanian Bank SNORAS Supervisory Board, the main shareholder of "Investbank", a member of the Supervisory Board of the bank "Latvijas Krājbanka", and a member of the Board of Directors of the bank "Banco Trasatlantico S.A." [2][3]

In 2007 Antonov's personal wealth was estimated at 300.000.000 US Dollars which ranks him as no. 182 among Russian millionaires.[4]

His father is the Russian businessman Aleksandr Antonov.

Spyker Cars and the Saab takeover

Antonov's interests (29.9 percent of the shares) in the Dutch automobile manufacturer Spyker Cars were said to have delayed the purchase of Saab Automobile in late 2009. An investigation by the Swedish monetary agency Riksgälden and the Swedish security police Säpo had allegedly found connections between the Antonov family and organized crime, as well as involvement in money laundering. Säpo reported their findings to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, and shortly afterwards GM stopped further talks about the deal until the Antonov family had sold their shares in Spyker Cars.[5] According to the deal with GM the Antonov family cannot invest in Spyker Cars until 2016, when GM's preference share-holding ends, though this condition could be waived by General Motors. Antonov said that he has no "connection to any criminal people" and that he had hired an investigative firm to produce evidence that he has no criminal background.[5] Furthermore Antonov has said that it is "obvious that European business has a strong prejudices against investors from Russia".[6]

Although officially the Antonov family has left Spyker Cars Vladimir Antonov has still said that he is interested in the Saab deal and that he has plans to build a Saab manufacturing factory in Kaliningrad where cheaper cars could be produced for the Russian and Ukrainian market.[7]

In July 2010 Antonov once again said that within a year he plans to open a factory in Kaliningrad where a cheaper sub-brand of Saab would be produced.[8]

Am si scris un articol despre asta, pentru cine are chef sa citeasca despre controversatul caz Opel:
http://www.0-100.ro/2009/11/05/decizia- ... e-in-lume/

The owner of Portsmouth Football Club, Vladimir Antonov, has been arrested in an inquiry into asset stripping.

Lithuanian prosecutors want to question him as part of an investigation into claims involving Snoras Bank.

They are also seeking his business partner Raimondas Baranauskas. Both are former managers and shareholders of the bank and deny any wrongdoing.

Portsmouth FC said its business operations were unaffected and its day-to-day operations "carry on as normal".

City of London Police said: "In response to a Europe-wide arrest warrant officers arrested a 36-year-old man in London this afternoon."

Snoras Bank went into temporary administration last week and on Tuesday Latvian authorities suspended the operations of another of Antonov's banks, Krajbanka.
'Business as usual'

A court in Lithuania granted the request by the prosecutor general's office on Tuesday and a pre-trial investigation into alleged fraud and money laundering has begun.

In a statement, the prosecutors said: "Both former managers of the bank Snoras have been recognised as suspects with regard to misappropriation of property on a large scale and forgery of documents.

"Prosecutor General Mr D Valys signed European arrest warrants issued against these persons."

Mr Baranauskas also held the posts of the chairman of the bank board and president.

Mr Antonov owns 68% of Bankas Snoras and an administrator has been appointed to assess its financial position.

The Russian businessman is the backer of Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI) which owns Portsmouth FC.

Last week CSI released a statement saying: "In the light of the recent events at Snoras Bank, Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI) would like to reassure its companies, staff, and the fans of its teams and events, that it remains very much business as usual."

In February 2010, Portsmouth became the first Premier League club to be placed into administration and CSI completed its takeover of the Championship side in June 2011.
